Ekholms Goal Bobrovskys Shutout Give Florida Edge

Panthers Take Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final with a 3-0 Win Over Oilers

Ekholm's Goal, Bobrovsky's Shutout Give Florida Edge

Panthers Capitalize on Power Play, Oilers Face Uphill Battle

In a hard-fought battle, the Florida Panthers have taken an early lead in the Stanley Cup Final, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 in Game 1. Panthers goalie Sergei Bobrovsky stood tall with a 25-save shutout, while Mattias Ekholm scored the game-winning goal in the first period.

The Oilers came out strong in the first period, but Ekholm's goal at 13:52 gave the Panthers the early advantage. The Oilers had a golden opportunity to tie it up on a power play late in the period, but Bobrovsky made several key saves to keep the lead intact.

In the second period, the Panthers continued to capitalize on their power play opportunities. Niko Mikkola scored on the man advantage at 10:13 to make it 2-0. The Oilers struggled to generate any consistent offense, and Bobrovsky continued to make timely saves.

With the Oilers pressing for a goal in the third period, Aaron Ekblad sealed the victory with an empty-net goal at 18:52. The Panthers outshot the Oilers 25-22, and Bobrovsky earned his second shutout of the playoffs.

The Oilers now face an uphill battle in the series, as the Panthers have historically been a tough team to beat at home. Game 2 of the series will take place on Monday night in Edmonton.
